Experience the Charm of a German Village
The park recreates the atmosphere of a traditional German rural community, with lush green landscapes and European-style buildings providing a picturesque backdrop for seasonal flowers. In spring, fields of rapeseed blossoms, tulips, and nemophila brighten the grounds. Sunflowers bring color in summer, while cosmos flowers create a spectacular display in autumn. Wandering through the gardens feels like taking a leisurely stroll through the European countryside.
Beyond its floral scenery, the park offers a wide range of activities, including grass sledding, go-karting, pedal boats, and a giant swing approximately 10 meters high. Visitors can also try milking Jersey cows and meet alpacas, goats, ponies, miniature pigs, and rabbits. Food is another highlight, with homemade sausages, German-style hot dogs, stone-oven-baked bread, and locally brewed beer bringing a taste of Germany to Okayama.
Attractions and Outdoor Activities
Okayama Forest Park features attractions for both children and adults. One of its most popular photo spots is the “Big Forest Swing,” an impressive swing officially associated with the beloved anime character Heidi, Girl of the Alps. Suspended high above the ground, it gives riders the exhilarating sensation of soaring through the air.
Other activities include a dinosaur-themed inflatable play area, remote-controlled boats, grass sledding, go-karts, archery, a bazooka-style shooting attraction, and gemstone hunting. Families can also enjoy the Choo-Choo Train that travels around the park, pedal boats, and a miniature steam locomotive. With so many options, visitors can easily spend an entire day exploring and playing.
Meet the Animals
The park’s animal experiences are a favorite with families and younger visitors. Guests can get close to alpacas, miniature pigs, goats, rabbits, and ponies, while the Jersey cow milking experience offers an opportunity to learn more about dairy farming.
Pony rides and the kangaroo area provide additional chances to interact with animals in a relaxed outdoor setting. These experiences add an educational element to the visit while allowing guests to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the park.
One of Western Japan’s Largest Dog Runs
Dog owners will find a spacious dog run covering approximately 5,000 square meters, an area comparable to around 20 tennis courts. Described as one of the largest in western Japan, it offers plenty of room for dogs to run and play freely.
The facility is divided into several areas, including an agility zone with equipment for dogs to navigate, designated spaces for medium and large dogs, a separate area for small dogs, and a section reserved for dog gatherings and meetups. Use of the dog run is free of charge.
Dogs must meet the park’s vaccination requirements, including rabies and combination vaccinations administered within the previous year. Visitors should check the current rules before arriving with their pets.

Flowers transform Okayama Forest Park throughout the year. Tulips and nemophila herald spring, sunflowers and petunias brighten summer, and cosmos and roses create colorful displays in autumn.
